Here are some things you need to know about the accommodations process:

The first step is to contact the appropriate department to begin the accommodation process:

  • Medical accommodations: Contact Ability Management.
  • Non-medical accommodations (occupational, workplace, or personal): Contact HR Access.

Please be aware that the employer is obligated to make reasonable efforts to accommodate you.

Accommodations are based on your documented limitations.

You can ask for your current position to be modified so it meets your limitations.

The employer is not required to create a new position for you.

If you can’t be accommodated in your current position, you will need to apply for existing vacancies through the normal job posting process and meet the qualifications for the vacancy.

If your accommodation is medical, you will be enrolled in the Employee Disability Management Program (EDMP) and will have an EDMP Steward who will support you throughout the accommodation process.

For occupational, workplace, and personal accommodations, you will work with HR Access, and a Union Service Rep throughout the accommodation process.
